A short story entitled: Today is 19/02/2022

1.         Today is 19/02/2022:

Article 22: Of Purgatory – “Every particular church may ordain change, or abolish rites and ceremonies so that all things may be done to edification” Martin Luther under Thomas Cramner 1563

Considering one of Luthur’s most repugnantly received articles, Veterinary professional demeanour for the science blind from the artist.

   Muck in people!

Make beds, barns and shelters for animals and people.

   Plants and flowers.

Grow new trees to plant in Liverpool, as by seeds given and what grows.

Scoring a hat trick, seven in one blow – whip!

A tailor swipes 7 flies with one swing of a cloth.

   Tea towel flicks.

   Great Grandma Emma and Hendrix.

(i)               Answer phone in 3 rings and say hello this is [insert name here] veterinary (clinic, hospital whatever!)

(ii)              Ignore phone coz you know who is calling and you haven’t got a hand free. Blood all over the shop.

(iii)            Walk into the vets each day from the front door (not always) expect blood all over the place, animals in cages and more coming in.

(iv)            Drugs at work sirs! Start breathing oxygen halothane mixture excess gas each day, for how long? Until scavengers were legally required.

I am gazing confidently into the eyes of many after having averted my gaze for so long.

Commended and paid for my work, tax and N.I. must be paid.

Everyone asking are you taking drugs, even the Doctor Saleemi. I said no. I smoke and drink not done drugs.

No questions were asked about my passive inhalation of gases daily at work.

(v)              Stand alone in a dark room filled with chemicals and develop x-rays with only red light in the corner, locked in from the inside.

(vi)            Get introduced to more drugs by a Vet student, willingly or not.

I was very anti drug misuse, perhaps because of Hendrix and Rock and Roll and Pentecostal teaching. Everyone was taking them when I wasn’t, no one talked to me about it until H went clubbing one night and bought drugs. Then everyone talked to me about it.

My first trip? Ecstasy. Our Ste dancing, I could not. I sat uncomfortably alone, Club 4 Halebank 1991.

(vii)          Scavengers now in place, Halothane intake reduced over time, sometimes a bag must be flushed out, scavengers weren’t that good at first and didn’t work on the open anaesthetic systems.

(viii)         Study in Wavertree part time Wednesday evenings, awake 6am to let horses out, 8am to work, finish 7pm if lucky.

(ix)               Learn to look intelligently attentive but be unresponsive to both lies truth and mankind.

Tolerate your car getting broken into and all your music cassettes plus that vital for early mornings ripped wax jacket getting nicked.

(x)              Over time become very competent like my teacher and the bending of the truth by means of scientific proficiency in words that few understand. Like never rag on the Vet(surgeons), rag on the Vet(nurses) instead. I refuse head nurse position for this reason.

(xi)            Refuse head nurse post for this reason.

(xii)          Study Ethics, take time to deliberate on past actions without feeling the violence of others whilst in meditative states.

   Not Easy with some people.

(xiii)         Observe life ending and flesh put into bin and freezer.

   Only animals.

(xiv)         Consider sterility and virility at its worst extremes.

Clean up to restore clinical environment.

Observe fraying and fragility in the minds of Vet (nurses and surgeons), other lay staff, clients, work close with the police, wardens, officers etc.

Observe two Pit Bulls with shots in their heads (Beckenham) Dogs got out, escaped, were let out, owners declared them not dangerous, loves and kept. They were in good condition but certainly now dead.

(xv)          Welcome to grief and the sharing of that in others.

(xvi)         Learn to lift, carry and transport many animal types.

(xvii)       Do not commit ‘Misuse of Drugs Act’ violation – defend this act.

(xviii)      Develop olfactory precision in sniffing out diseases and causal agents.

Tolerate pong etc

(xix)         The right to life

(xx)          Freeway to water, light, air and earth.

(xxi)         All Folke

(xxii)       All Men
